2011 Other Charms of Belfast

Galleries and Friday Night Art Walks;  First Fridays June - December, and Every Friday in July and August, 5:30 p.m. - 8:00 p.m., Over a dozen galleries and studios are open, most with artists on hand, and offer refreshments and chit chat.  Live music and other performance artists entertain along the streets.  Free and open to the public.  www.BelfastArtWalk.com

Museum In The Streets; The Belfast Historical Society is proud to sponsor the Museum In The Streets® and invites you to experience Belfast's distinguished heritage by following The Museum In The Streets® self-guided walking tour. Thirty attractive panels with vintage photographs and descriptive text will lead you through the downtown, residential and waterfront areas. Architecturally significant buildings and houses, notable people, historic events, and our maritime history are highlighted.  http://belfastmuseum.org/ 

Historic Church Street Architecture:   An abundant and varied architectural collection of homes and buildings can be found on Church Street.  A walk along Church Street can be tied-in with the owner guided tours of the grounds and public rooms of the National Register of Historic Places, White House Inn at 1 Church Street.  www.MaineBB.com  Lodgers staying at the historic White House Inn during the festival staying two nights will receive a complimentary copy of Historic Maine Homes; 300 Years of Great Houses.  Those staying three nights will also receive 10% off their stay.

Belfast Maskers Theatre; Pirates of Penzance Opens Thursday, July 28 and runs through August 6 (weather permitting; rain date is August 7) . This show is the wonderfully silly Gilbert and Sullivan Operetta with fabulous music. Outside at Steamboat Landing Park. All performances at 7 p.m. Special Thursday bargain nights, all tickets $10 (12 and under, $5).
